Great Camping Food Makes for a Great Camping Trip
One of the things people most overlook when they prepare for a camping trip is food. Tins from the back of the cupboard will be hastily packed away; expensive trips to grocery stores and mini-marts will be made. But why does it have to be that way? After a long day hiking, it’s always great to sit down and enjoy something nutritious and tasty.
Great Camping Food:
How to Prepare Your Camping Meal
This doesn’t, necessarily, even require a lot of effort. You just need some basic equipment to prepare and serve meals: a good portable stove, cookware, cutlery and some crockery (remember to respect the environment if you bring disposable crockery and discard it correctly). Another great way to prepare your meal is over a campfire, this will certainly help you cook any food and will add to your overall camping authenticity. Ensure you have a supply of water for both cooking and drinking and remember to drink at least a litre of water a day to avoid dehydration.
Camping Food and Meals
What kind of meals are best? Campfire hotdogs, cooked canned meat and instant mashed potato is a simple and tasty dish that’s easy to prepare. Pasta and sauce is quick and easy and doesn’t take too long. Both are good dinners or lunches. Bring sandwiches, potato chips and granola bars on hiking trips for energy and a quick lunch. Fresh fruit, too, is good. For breakfast, try trail mix. Bring some powdered milk for any coffee or cereal you bring along. Bring some canned vegetables with you to make your prepared meals more filling and dried herbs and spices can liven up any meal.
Remember that you don’t need to do much to make great camping food and it can make for a great trip!
